About Simsbury, CT - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!
Simsbury is located in Hartford County, Connecticut approximately fourteen miles north of the city of Hartford. Incorporated in 1670, it is one of the state's oldest communities and was the site of several significant "firsts," including the first copper coinage, steel mill, and temperance society in the nation.
Simsbury's long and storied history is managed under the careful stewardship of the Simsbury Historical Society. Located in the circa 1771 Phelps Tavern, the society maintains an impressive collection of documents, manuscripts, artifacts, and memorabilia relative to the history of the city and surrounding area. The society also maintains a number of historic structures that include a circa 1889 icehouse and circa 1790 schoolhouse, both located on the grounds of the Phelps family homestead. History buffs will love the Old Drake Hill Bridge, also known as the "Flower Bridge," a one-lane span built in 1892 to accommodate vehicular traffic across the Farmington River that houses a picturesque collection of floral attractions that include forty-eight flower boxes and thirty-two hanging baskets.
There is never a dull moment in Simsbury! The Simsbury Parks and Recreation Department maintains and operates ten city parks and a number of recreational facilities that include the Simsbury Farms Recreation Complex, a 235-acre expanse that houses the Simsbury Farms Golf Course, an outdoor aquatic area consisting of four separate pool areas, a covered outdoor ice skating rink, and the David Emott Memorial Family Fitness Trail. Simsbury is also home to the International Skating Center of Connecticut, a world-class training facility that has been the training home of many Olympic skaters, including Sasha Cohen and Michelle Kwan.
A popular hiking and backpacking destination, the area abounds with trails perfect for the sport. Trails of note include theCathles/Hedgehog Trail, Onion Mountain Trail, and trails located throughout Talcott Mountain State Park and the McLean Game Refuge.
Present day Simsbury is home to a population of approximately 23,000 residents who enjoy the small-town atmosphere, historic charm, and gorgeous New England climate that makes Simsbury a special place for residents and visitors alike!
