Noted for its contributions in manufacturing and skilled industry, the town of Berlin was a major player in the onset of the American Industrial Revolution. The town's rich history and cultural heritage, preserved through the joint efforts of the Berlin Historical Society and Berlin Historic District Commission, can be revisited with a tour of the Worthington Ridge Historic District, which contains over eighty structures of historic significance. Sites of note include the Worthington Meeting House, circa 1774, and a number of 18th century homes built in the Federal, Queen Anne, and Greek Revival architecture styles of the era.
Berlin's changing seasonal climate that features hot, humid summers and gorgeous New England winters presents the perfect setting for year-round recreational and leisure activities! A number of city parks and recreational facilities are maintained and operated by the Berlin Parks and Recreation Department. Parks of note featuring trails for hiking and biking include Sage Park, Bicentennial Park, and Timberlin Park. The department also operates the Berlin Community Center andTimberlin Golf Course, a Golf Digest "Four-Star Award," recipient widely regarded as the best public golf course in the state.
